The Democratic Republic of Afghanistan. (Persian/Pashto: افغانستان, Afġānistān), is a near lawless region in Southern Asia, formerly controlled by the old Democratic Republic of Afghanistan.
Tadjikistan invaded Afghanistan in 1977 and 1982 and annexed part of the DRNA in 1984, to the DRA's dismay. Ismail Khan was almost forced to give up his rule in Herat, but was allowed autonomy with in the DRA. Herāt Emirate, became an autonomous region in the new DRA in 2010.
