After acquiring his own recording studio in Alnadovich, Artesenas, Mikhail set out to make a comeback to the limelight not as a singer, but as a record producer, and raise new and fresh talents and launch them into stardom. Meanwhile, in Exesivov High School in Alnadovich, Mark Krikovsky ({{HoM|Martin Korsikov}}), Diego Figueroa ({{HoM|Karl Barsovich}}), Aleksei Taktarov ({{HoM|Vladimir Birsakov}}), Oleg Vizinsky ({{HoM|Alrad Dumayev}}), and Gavril Kumlidov ({{HoM|Kazimir Kadunov}}), five senior high school students, find themselves waiting at the students' lounge after school for something they don't know about. Five complete strangers who came from different cliques and are completely different in so many ways, they are bound together by the one thing they have in common: music. Apparently, instead of holding auditions, Mikhail wants to discover his new talents by silently observing them. Oleg was rehearsing a song for a play he's starring in; Gavril was trying to serenade a girl with a song but got shut down; Aleksei was trying out for the school choir; Diego was seen hanging out with his friends at a teen karaoke bar after football practice; and Mark was discovered secretly writing songs in his car. Apart from the five of them, a few more students are waiting in the lounge as well: Mikhail Rasovich, who was seen rapping and beatboxing in the bathroom; Kristina and Katrina Morozova, twin sisters who for some reason only talk through singing in harmony; and Vilyam Shabokov, a kid who got discovered after deciding to play with the DJ mixer in the gym that was setup in preparation for a fundraiser party. As all of them get acquainted, the five realize that they have interacted with each other at some point earlier in the morning: Diego, the football quarterback, were practicing with his teammates at the parking lot due to the field and the gym being closed for the fundraiser party when he accidentally hit Aleksei's 2 million-margot car. Gavril, the school bully, picked on a group of nerds during lunch, and one of them was Oleg, who stood up to him. As a result, Gavril takes his sandwich and shot it across the school cafeteria. Mark and his best friend Eros Brutovsky ({{HoM|Abram Domovich}}) saw what happened, so they decided to teach Gavril a lesson by egging him while he was serenading a girl he likes, resulting in her shutting him down and him getting laughed at. While the five of them are arguing, Arya Gavrilova ({{HoM|Andrea G.}}), production assistant at Mikhail's label, walk in to the lounge, telling the students that all of them have been tagged by Mikhail as "with potential," and that he would like to see them the following morning at his studio. When the nine of them show up at the studio the next morning, Arya tells them that Mikhail will let them each perform any song in the recording booth, after which he will only pick three acts to be his new recording artists. After all of them performed one by one (except for the Morozova twins, who won't perform separately), Arya announced the first two acts: the Morozova twins, and Shabokov. For the third act, Arya says Mikhail wants the remaining six young men to go back to the booth and, one by one, perform the same song: a new song he wrote, called "Wrong Place at the Right Time." All six of them start arguing on who needs the break most, when they are called one by one to sing the song. When Arya comes back, she calls the names of Mark, Diego, Oleg, Gavril and Aleksei. She says Mikhail is choosing all of them to be the third act--as a boy band. When Rasovich asks about himself, Arya says he's not good for anything other than rap, and makes him leave.

Meanwhile, the newly-assembled boy band walk in to the booth and complains about the situation to Mikhail, as they cannot stand each other. Mikhail then recounts that when he was starting out as a musician, he was recruited to be part of a boyband. He declined because one of the other members stole his girlfriend. While Mikhail found success as a solo artist, the band soared into more heights during the 90's: gaining international superstardom, movie deals, TV ads and cameos. While he on the hand fell out of favor after only five years, the band never left the spotlight, and is still a popular act to this day. Mikhail then wonders what could have been if he accepted the boy band offer, and says he doesn't want anyone to regret this like he did. He then gave the boys time to think about becoming a boy band. Apparently, he talked to the school board about the fundraiser party and was told he can allow his three new acts to perform one song each.
